Ellen is an urban planner focused on equitable economic development and climate justice.
Ellen joined Estolano Advisors in 2024. As an Associate at Estolano Advisors, she provides support on a range of projects related to workforce development and climate resilience. To support alignment of workforce development programs at the City of Seattle, Ellen led the synthesis of key findings from interviews with department leadership to help inform a Task Force of City staff that will develop recommendations for Mayor Harrell’s Office.
Prior to joining Estolano Advisors, Ellen worked with Leland Consulting, where she supported and led a range of projects in the urban planning, economic development, and real estate development realms for communities throughout the West and Midwest. Additionally, she has a decade of experience working for independently-owned businesses—ranging from farms to a fair trade coffee company—in the local and sustainable food and beverage landscape.
Ellen attained a Master of Urban-Regional Planning from Portland State University. While in the program, she helped develop a Climate Adaptation Strategy for the City of Vancouver, Washington along with a team of fellow graduate students. Ellen has years of experience advocating for climate action at the local level, including organizing experience for the successful Portland Clean Energy Fund Campaign in 2018. She previously received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Geography with a Minor in Community-Regional Planning from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
