Abigail is a planner working at the intersections of climate, mobility, and land use to ensure housing justice and resilient communities for all.
Abigail Koshollek is a planner with a background in rural, Tribal, and economic development and housing. She joined EA in May 2024 and works closely with the firm’s equitable economic development and mobility justice practices. Abigail project manages the firms’ role as Interim Inspector General of the United to House Los Angeles Citizens Oversight Committee – a 15 member committee working closely with the Los Angeles Housing Department to implement Measure ULA. She is the lead researcher for Ventura County’s Farmworker Housing Study where she identifies key housing typologies for the region. Abigail also supported the City of Commerce with their Transit Oriented Development and Anti Displacement Plan for the incoming Citadel Metro Station and serves as a lead Technical Assistance provider for the California's Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) grant.
Prior to joining the firm, Abigail was a Technical Assistance provider with the California Coalition for Rural Housing where she supported Tribes and rural/farmworking communities in managing applications to several California State programs including RCC, TCC, AHSC, MORE, TribalHHAP, and HCD’s Prohousing Designation. Abigail provided key research on efforts for residents to purchase their Mobile Home parks for presentations given across the state. During graduate school, Abigail interned with the California Strategic Growth Council where she developed key frameworks and methodologies for the Tribal Capacity Building Pilot Program. Abigail supported the City of Los Angeles’ Climate Emergency Mobilization Office in a capstone report detailing extreme heat concerns at transit shelters across the City. She also produced research cited in a report written by KIWA detailing labor and community development issues in Koreatown’s numerous barbeques. Abigail’s began her career out of undergrad as an undergraduate study abroad advisor at CIEE and the University of Minnesota’s Learning Abroad Center, where she developed a love for advising, community economic development, travel, and connecting with those around her.
Abigail completed UCLA’s Master of Urban and Regional Planning program in June 2023 with a concentration in Regional Economic Development and a certificate in Global Public Affairs. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Communications, and Leadership from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, which she completed in December 2017. Outside of work you can find her hanging with her cat Beefsteak, crocheting, and talking to her long distance best friends for hours on the phone.
